Jalama Beach Puggies

Since my last post, our pugs journeyed to the Rainbow Bridge.  Three months later, my mum went into dementia care and her 11 year old, spoiled rotten puggies became ours.  Emmy Lou is a fawn with spinal issues and is on Prednisone.  It keeps her pain down and she enjoyed her first beach trip.  Polly Anna is a black pug; quite a little tank with a laid back attitude.  As you can see from the pics, they had a good time!

Next trip, Priest Gulch Campground on the Dolores River in Colorado in May.

Oops! Mum forgot about our blog! Hope she doesn't forget our dinner!

I think our mum is getting old!  She forgot to add to our blog; for years now.  OK, maybe not years, but it's been a long time. Look at us!  How could she NOT want to write about us?  We may not have too many followers, but she can't let them down.  Pug Hugs to all the campers we have met along the way and who have checked it to see Pam & the RV Puggies! ♪♫♪ On the Road Again! ♫♪♫
September 2015

Leia Loo's first trip with us and she was amazing.  Daisy Doo showed her how to jump up into her camp chair and wait for the marshmallows!

Amazing!  You could see to the bottom and all the fallen logs in this glacial lake.

The Grand Tetons are so dramatic!

What an incredible trip!

Bentley Is Now At The Rainbow Bridge

Sweet kitty boy, Bentley, lost his fight with kidney failure on July 5, 2015.  We believe he was about 17-18 years old and was Daisy Doo's best buddy.  They adored each other.  Although Bentley knew many a pug in his 15 1/2 years with me, Daisy was his favorite.  He will forever be in my heart.  Enjoy romping at the bridge like a kitten, I will see you soon dear Bentley.  Daisy sends her love, too.

~Remembering Sweet Sassy Sue~

It's so hard when we lose a beloved pet and I believe only another pet lover can truly understand that loss.  It's taken me all this time to write this post.  Sassy Sue would have been 13 in August of 2014, but a fast growing cancerous mouth tumor took her in less than two weeks.  I guess in hindsight I should be grateful she didn't have pain, didn't suffer, but somehow it's still so hard.  So, I thought I'm ready now to add some of my favorite pictures of Sassy Sue, the sweetest puggy I've ever had the pleasure to know.  Play at the Rainbow Bridge little darling and I will see you again soon.  <3

That's Sassy Sue cuddled down by my left leg, and of course Daisy Doo is peeking up at Jeff taking the photo.  Silly old Bentley is still traveling with us at 17!  This was taken at Jalama Beach in March of 2014.

Gotta love the expression on the old gal's face here!  Sassy Sue must have called dibs on the quilt after a long walk on Jalama Beach during the same trip as above.  Poor Daisy Doo looks exhausted!

This was taken last year when we were on an RV trip with my parents.  Poor old Sassy Sue was insulted to be in a cage with the wild bunch!

One of my favorite pictures of Sassy Sue.  I made this pug themed quilt and a friend made the knit pugs for Arizona Pug Adoption & Rescue Network (APARN).  You can contact Diane if you are interested in the knit pugs, she sells them on Facebook.  We couldn't let Daisy Doo help model the items, she wanted to play with the knit pugs!

~Priest Gulch Trip- June 7-14, 2014~

We had an amazing week at Priest Gulch on the Dolores River about 20 miles from Dolores, Colorado.  We had an great space, #22, right on the river.  Just relaxing, reading, hiking, and discovering Dolores and Rico.  So much fun, we ended up booking another trip for late September to see the leaves change.

Sassy is almost 13 now and gets tired, so she's in the stroller.

We have two pug chairs, but Daisy Doo loves to snuggle up with Sassy Sue.

Our attempt at a "selfie" on the Priest Creek.

Oh, how we love our Campfires!

Enjoying the Enterprise Bar's open air dining.

"Come on, mum, let's go."  I went in to see the Enterprise Bar, somewhat like the Palace Bar in Prescott, AZ.

Just love this campground.....we'll be back.

~Just a Sittin' and a Thinkin'~

Cracks me up the way pets like to hang out in the big people bed.  Daisy is definitely a pillow pug, while Sass takes to the right end corner.  Never fails!  Poor Bentley just sits  where he finds a place, Sassy can't stand him, so it's not too close to her.  :0)

~Yippee  We Got Our Loca the Pug Calendar!~

Notice the frustrated look on my face!  No matter how hard we tried, we couldn't get Bentley to look at the camera.  The look definitely says, "Just take the darn picture, Jeff!"

If you haven't a clue who Loca is, go to YouTube and check out the Loca the Pug videos.  She is a special needs pug who lives in Ireland.  I follow her on FB  https://www.facebook.com/LocaThePug

~The Great Pacific Coast Adventure~

Finished a 6 week RV trip to Puget Sound and the Pacific Coast.  What a great adventure.  The puggies were great little travelers, only to be outdone by Bentley the cat.  He reminds me of a hippie from the 1960s, everything is A-ok with him!  Enjoyed our trip of a lifetime, but also glad to be home.  Planning our next trip to Joshua Tree National Park in November.  :0)

~Just A Sittin' And A Thinkin'~

While watching Daisy Doo take to my chair, plunk herself down and stare off into oblivion, I got to thinking perhaps, pugs like a time to just think and reflect.  Wonder what she is thinking about, cookies? toy? or just life in general?  Well, that's my random thought for today!  :0)

~Jalama Beach Puggy Adventure~

~Jalama Beach Puggy Adventure~

Our October outing was a true celebration.  We celebrated the end of my radiation treatments and the beginning of the rest of our life.  It's amazing how much cancer really messes up your life style, but with that behind us, we're off to new adventures.

Jalama Beach is a hidden jewel near Lompoc California.  A long drive through ranch country takes you to this incredible beach.  Behind me you can see the peninsula that is Vandenberg Airbase.  Very windy, but incredible beach.  It was a great vacation and we met some campers with a 1965 Airstream, all renovated to the era.  How cool is that for this 60s child?  :0)

~A Little Getaway on Mingus Mountain, Arizona~

Friends we met on www.pugslife.org Aronda and Ron came up the mountain to visit us last weekend.  Since the monsoons are in full force, we retreated to the awning when the rains came.  Luckily, we got a little time to enjoy a yummy barbeque and S'mores!  Nothing better than pugs, good friends, and camping!  :0)

~Arizona Centennial Quilt Testers~

The puggies approve of my dad's birthday quilt. I used the Arizona Centennial fabric, it was a dream to piece. Making one for my father-in-law's birthday too, but he doesn't like the puggies. Shhhhh! Don't let him know there'll be puggy bums on his quilt, too! These girls are the official quilt testers! Daisy Doo, the middle one, is the good puggy and she is NOT too patient with my seniors who took forever to pose. I think she was rolling her eyes and saying, "Oh, brother!" It's quite a family affair getting them all in a row for our quilt testing. The one on the left, Buffy Boo, is nearly blind, and Sassy Sue is on the right.  Both of my seniors are going deaf. Jeff and I are definitely the "puggy wranglers" when it comes to quilt photos! :0)

I am NOT getting into that Pee Pee bed!
Sassy had her bladder stone surgery on Thursday and Daisy missed her so much.  As we were told by the vet, Sassy would "leak" a little until her bladder healed.  Well, poor Daisy just hates the smell of other puggies' pee.  There was a minute amount in the bed and she would not get into it, instead she would lean onto the non-pee pee part of the bed!  There's only so much one can do for a sister!   Well, this went on for an hour or so, then.........

Ah, the sacrifices one makes for a sister!  :0)

~The Quilting Crew on Break!~

We were in Phoenix for the Good Sam Rally last week.  Since Jeff had a couple of seminars to attend, and I was getting pretty tired, the pugs, Bentley and I spent the day sewing.  My quilting crew kind of pooped out on me here; the snoring was so loud I couldn't hear the sewing machine!  All in all we had a great time at the rally and I got to do my favorite thing, spend time with the puggies and sew!  :0)

~Happy St. Paddy's Day!~

Buffy O'Boo, Sassy O'Sue, and Daisy O'Doo are here to show you their new St. Paddy's Day lap quilt and wish you a Happy St. Paddy's Day.  I seriously thought of putting little green tams on them, but thought that a wee bit too much....even for me!  :0)

The Cone of Shame!

Poor Polly Anna, she had surgery for eye entropion (inversion of lids).  She had both lower lids lowered as the eyelashes and lids were rubbing on her eyes making them teary and raw.  After years of not dealing with it, she may have had to deal with early blindness, so she decided on the surgery at the ripe old age of 1 1/2.  Emmy Lou (fawn) is her home health care nurse and works tirelessly trying to remove Polly's cone of shame!  Together these two puppies are a delight for my parents and Polly is busy racing around acting like nothing has happened and the cone is just one of her latest outfit!  Blue is definitely her color!  :0)

Happy Birthday Emmy & Polly!

Have you ever noticed how pug people tend to celebrate all holidays and birthdays with their pugs as if they are real human children?  I wonder what it is that makes us do that?  Must be that cute little pug face!  As you can see Emmy Lou and Polly Anna are enjoying their birthday and by the smile on Papa's face, I'd say he was having a we bit of fun, too!  :0)

Camp Fire Girls :0)

We just got back from Page Springs on Oak Creek near Sedona.  Lovely area, so close to the creek, we could hear its relaxing sounds in the RV.  A little chilly at night, but nothing a roaring camp fire can't warm up!  Buffy, our little "Buggy Puggy", is really getting into the swing of RVing.  Sassy and Daisy are old pros.  We were lucky to get a site with electric and I took my travel sewing machine.  Worked on a pug quilt for APARN's Pugstock silent auction during a cloudy day; felt like home!  Next trip is March when we're off to the Good Sam Club Rally in Phoenix, AZ.  :0)

First Blog....What is a Blog anyway????

OK, so this is my first blog entry.  I don't have any idea what a blog is; guess it's like a journal on the Internet.  Eek, not just for me, but God and everyone can see it.  Note to self: use spell check!

Well, this photo is of our new foster pug, Buffy, in the background.  I say "foster", but really....can I give her up?  She's 12 years young, low vision, hard of hearing, and can't walk as fast as the rest of the pug posse, so I spent $120.00 on a dog stroller.  Hmmm, guess I plan to keep her, eh?  Anyways, she fits in with the family of puglets, but Sassy is playing it cool.  Daisy thinks she is her new toy and the husband, Jeff, is smitten.  :0)

We walk every day, or should I say we three walk and Buffy sits in her royal carriage.  I think this is going to work....foster pug and blog!  OK, now where is the spell check?
